Since the camera offers various film applications, provides many frame rates and convenient, custom settings, providing full control over the use of live image during filming, photographers can easily switch from inspiring pictures to video of broadcast quality. In addition, the Nikon D610 has a microphone jack for an external stereo microphone.

Uncompressed HDMI output
With the Nikon D610 you can sent live uncompressed 1080p video to external recorders , the output is automatically reduced to 1080i as the camera notices that an external monitor is used. The uncompressed data is output to the specified format and the desired frame rate, without information being displayed on the picture. It may however, be displayed, at the same time, on the TFT monitor of the Nikon D610.
